Toto Pizza Auckland
Established in 1993, Toto Pizza is an award-winning pizzeria. It takes you back to Naples, the home of owners Antonio Crisci and Sergio Maglione. All their ingredients are authentic Italian. The mozzarella is made for Toto with traditional Italian techniques. They use San Marzano tomatoes, Italian cheeses, and Italian meats.
They are famous for their meter-long pizzas that can feed a large group. Half-meter pizzas and individual slices are also available. The Doro, made with Champagne ham, caramelized onions, potatoes, mozzarella, cream, and rosemary, is a specialty. Another specialty is the Boscaiola, made with mozzarella, mushrooms, fresh cream, spinach, pine nuts, and truffle oil.

Located on Richmond Road, Epolito’s Pizzeria brings New York-style pizza to Auckland. Chickalena Rose, from upstate New York, opened it in 2005. Carlo Rovetto, a Sicilian family friend, trained her in pizza-making. The pizzas are large, crisp, and minimalist. They make their own dough and sauce and use only locally sourced ingredients. The Pizzas are hand-stretched, dressed on wooden peels, and baked on oven stones. Concrete Playground named it the Best Neighborhood Pizzeria in 2017.
The menu includes 13 pies and features several New York classics. The Brooklyn, made with homemade sausage, olives, and parmesan, is one of their specialties. They offer a selection of quality craft beers and wines to go with your pizza and make their own New York-style bagels. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, and takeaway is available.

Opened in 2018, Umu Pizza serves epic wood-fire oven pizzas on a sourdough base. All ingredients are locally farmed. There are only eight pizzas on the menu, and they are numbered rather than named. The staff is accommodating and friendly, and the service is quick. Cool background music and a trendy pastel color scheme make for a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Pizza number one is the standard margarita. Number seven is a tomato base with mozzarella, chili flakes, pickled vegetables, and smoky goat chorizo. Number eight is portabella mushrooms, pancetta, and pecorino. There are a few vegetarian choices. They also offer a short menu of extras and sides, dips for your crust, and wine, beer, and cocktails. They are open Tuesday through Saturday and available for private functions.

Delicious! Bases were a great texture- pillowy, light and fantastically chewy. Had the artichoke dip for the crust and it was flavourful and the perfect accompaniment. Toppings were perfectly balanced flavour and quantity wise.Rachel
Dante’s offers an authentic Italian experience at four venues. The pizza, made by world-class chefs in the tradition of Napoli Italy, has a light and crispy sourdough crust. They use Caputo flour from Napoli, San Marzano tomatoes, and Campana mozzarella cheese. Their wood-fired oven is made in Napoli by Gianni Acunto.
The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is honest and fresh with plenty of options for vegetarians. The Bufalina pizza, a specialty, features San Marzano tomato, buffalo mozzarella, basil, and cherry tomatoes. The menu includes starters, pasta, risotto, sourdough pizzas, salads, and sweets.

Had the most amazing experience at Dante’s sitting at the chefs table and our whole family enjoyed taking with the chef. While the pizza is amazing the pasta was exceptional. It was a highlight of our weekend.Peter
The Proper Pizza Company
Established in 2018, The Proper Pizza Company offers European thin-crust pizzas with sesame seed crusts. Using the freshest, finest, and imported ingredients, they make pizzas up to 60 cm wide. Their bases are 100 percent vegan, and non-dairy cheese is available. They are open seven days a week and offer in-house catering and delivery. Their service is fast and friendly.
They offer 10 savory and two sweet pizza. Their featured pizzas are Crudo di Parma, Garden Love, Black Truffle, and Meaty Macho. The Black Truffle is made with mushrooms, Scamorza cheese, pecorino, Parmigianino, Reggiano, pine nuts, and a white wine sauce. They also serve appetizers, soups, Swiss fondues, salads, sides, desserts, and drinks.

Lovely spot, off the main road. Really enjoyed the pizza, it was light and had good amount of tomato sauce. Would recomend, for a relaxing casual eatery. I saw cheese fondue on their menu so will be back soon.Jay
Located in the heart of Balmoral on Dominion Road, Stumpys is an understated and authentic pizza restaurant. They make delicious wood-fired pizzas in a beautifully handcrafted oven. They use New Zealand and genuine buffalo mozzarella cheeses, and their thin crispy bases are hand-spun like in Italy. They also have a gluten-free crust option. The service is friendly and professional.
Their handmade pizzas are made fresh to order seven days a week. The current pizza of the month, Tonno, features tuna, garlic, and onion. The new Meat Lovers pizza includes Champagne ham, Italian salami, smoked chicken, onion, and garlic. They also serve pasta and have a special kids’ menu. Their food trucks are available for special events.

An Italian family using their 150-year-old family recipe runs Al Volo. Established in 2004, they specialize in traditional Neopolitan wood-fired handmade pizza. They use Italian meats, locally made mozzarella, locally grown produce, and Neapolitan flour. The atmosphere is charming and cozy with 12 tables and seating on a sunny terrace.
The toppings are simple and authentic. Gluten-free bases and vegan cheeses are available. They also serve pasta, salads, small plates, and an antipasto platter. Their well-stocked bar features Peroni on tap, Italian wines, and cocktails. The house special “Al Volo” pizza is made with mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, olive oil, and Parmigianino.

Located in Newmarket, Archie’s Pizzeria offers a wide selection of main dishes, pizzas, pasta, and salads. They are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and offer takeaway and delivery from their pizza, main, and dessert menus. Reservations are recommended. The atmosphere is cozy and kid-friendly, and the staff is friendly.
The Alla Capricciosa, a specialty, has salami, olives, capsicum, anchovies, tomato, mozzarella, and oregano. Another favorite is the Pollo e Pesto made with chicken, homemade pesto, zucchini, pine nuts, and mozzarella. The margarita is simple but tasty. Beer, cider, wine, cocktails, and spirits are served.

Gorgeous Pizza offers a wide selection of gorgeous New York-style pizzas named after supermodels and movie stars. You can watch the owner, Wayne, making the pizza right in the middle of the restaurant. The location is great, the service is prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and relaxed with candles and music. They were finalists in the Global Pizza Challenge and have been around for 10 years.
They use quality ingredients, homemade sauce, light, crispy bases, and innovative topping combos. One of their specialty pizzas, the Lucy Liu, is made with duck, hoisin sauce, and cashews. The Christy features barbecue sauce, chicken, red onion, pineapple, and mozzarella. They also serve calzone, pasta dishes, an amazing side salad, handmade donuts, and an interesting selection of wine.

Sal’s Authentic New York Pizza
Sal’s is a small, busy pizzeria that offers an authentic New York Pizza experience complete with cozy booths and hot ovens. Salvatore Leo, an Italian-born immigrant to New York, opened his first pizzeria in New York in 1975. In 2008, the Auckland restaurant opened bringing Sal's New York pizza to New Zealand. Brian, Sal’s son, is part of the Auckland team. Online ordering and delivery are available.
All their ingredients are authentic. Their base, made from slow risen dough, is crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside. The sauce is made daily from vine-ripened California tomatoes. They use premium Wisconsin mozzarella cheese, New York pepperoni, and Italian meatballs.
