Picking a hairdresser is a very subjective thing, and once you've found a stylist that you like you're unlikely to change unless you really have to. But what if you are new to Auckland, have moved or do need a change for some reason? To help those of you we've compiled this list of what we think are the best hairdressers in Auckland. We've tried to include a mix of high-end salons and more family friendly unisex hairdressing salons so there is something for everyone. All of these fine establishments are very well reviewed and have great reputations for excellent service in the markets they serve.

Marcelo & Co Hair Design

The atmosphere is relaxing at Marcelo & Co Hair Design, a modern salon with a creative vision. Their team pampers clients with barista-style beverages and snacks and offers expert advice. They specialize in great communication, education on hair care and products, and dedicated personal service. Offering a full array of Wella hair care products, they are open Tuesday through Saturday.

With locations on Ponsonby Road and Commercial bay, Loxy’s salon is a great place to go for hair extensions. Using a unique micro weft system with no gluing or braiding, the extensions are ethically sourced, quick and easy to apply and maintain, and can be reused for nine to 12 months on average. This technique greatly reduces the chances of damaging hair.

Kate Jarrett, the founder, started out with a mobile hair extensions service in 2009. As her clientele grew, she expanded her business to what it is today with two locations and a team of stylists to address all hairdressing needs including cuts, color, and up-dos.
